About Me

There is no version number and no manufacturers/programmers names but a whole bunch of cool stuff about me growing up to be who I am. Also a little background on myself, places I have visited, what I liked about them, etc., etc. I know, I know, most of you do not give a damn but check it out anyways. If you like traveling and learning about different cultures and places, I have links that you will not find on any search engine. You can find my pictures here.
I am a Leo born in the year 1977 on a beautiful island in the Fiji Islands. Due to my dad’s job, we had to move around a whole bunch and therefore I never stayed in the same place for more than 4 years. It was tough making and losing friends all the time but also a great opportunity to travel and meet a lot of people from various parts of the island nation.
My life really did not begin until I was in the 7th grade. You see, before that time I was pretty much a teacher’s pet, a good son and a very boring guy. Not that I regret any of it. I think all of that gave me a sense of elegance, how to be “civilized” and such. Well you know what they say about rules. Once you learn ‘em, you start to break ‘em. And my big break came when hooked up with two “rebels,” or so they thought they were. Anyways, Amit C. Patel and Sachin Solanki, they introduced me to the true meaning of Saturday, pizza and movies. Not that I did not know the joy of these items before than, I just began to appreciate it better among the company of my peers. If you have ever been a teenager you know what I am talking about.
Well this is the time about when I started listening to English music, Rock ‘n Roll in fact. Find out my favorite bands at my Interests Page. Some of the lyrics made so much sense and applied so precisely to my life that I (well this was Sachin’s idea at first but he has given up on it since) decided I was going to start a band of my own. I have written a lot of stuff since and am currently looking for adequate talent to record these songs (anybody interested please try here). You can check out some of my poems and other essays at my Projects Page.
Anyways we hung out together for about two years in which time we did everything from Squash, weight lifting to nothing together. Those were really very good times of my life. I mean I have had other good times but these were the first ones I can recall these days. Then we graduated from primary school (actually, Sachin left us a year earlier to go study in Australia. Amit went to a high school that every boy wanted to go to including me but I, not so unfortunately, had to attend MGM High School only because my parents had the pleasure of going to that particular school. So here I was in a new school with a bunch of new faces. I knew a few people from my primary school but it was not quite the same. But I think for me it was a good thing since the people I hung out with over there knew very little of my boring background and therefore I had a lot more fun with a lot more people. The experience also taught me a few things about life. See, I was a teenager by then and there were certain new things that became interesting to me. I gave everything a shot being successful in some and not so successful in others. There were many opportunities gained and lost, many risks taken sometimes victoriously, sometimes fatally. I flushed out a lot of foolishness there. Anyways that did not last long. In the summer (US) of 1993 I moved to the United States. Everything changed.
School here was different. Everybody kept moving in and out of classes every hour or so. It was very hard for me to get to know anyone let alone make true best friends. But so many windows were opened. I took German, Choir, Piano, classes not possible or even offered in Fijian schools. I had a blast learning new stuff. Of course there were pitfalls along the way. I shall not get into embarrassing moments and/or details. Anyways, I graduated from Mt Eden High School in Hayward in June of 1995. I went straight to Chabot Community College also located in Hayward. I figured if it was good enough for Tom Hanks it must be good enough for me. It opened up even more possibilities for me. American Sign Language, Photography, Archery, Racquetball, Philosophy and just a whole bunch of other stuff. Gained my Associates in Arts Degree in General Education 2 years later in June of 1997. I will eligible for another A. A. Degree this time in Math and a Associates in Science Degree in Physics in another semester. I joined student government and became the Student Body President.
